Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North, has clashed with Channels Television presenter Seun Okinbaloye during a live interview, accusing the journalist of attempting to harass him. The tense exchange occurs on Wednesday as Okinbaloye presses Kalu on the economic policies of the administration of late former President Muhammadu Buhari. The discussion focuses on the Buhari government’s monetary actions, including the “printing of money,” and how these decisions relate to inflation and broader economic difficulties.
Kalu responds by defending the current government while arguing that decisions taken under the previous administration also harmed the economy. He points to what he describes as actions such as “front loading” oil, including selling crude oil, and he reiterates that the previous government printed money, which he says was questioned.
As Okinbaloye continues to challenge him, Kalu becomes visibly frustrated and tells the presenter, “You can’t call people here to harass them” and “You can’t harass me,” adding that the exchange is no longer an interview.
