India has crossed 300 gigawatts (GW) of non-fossil fuel-based electricity capacity, according to statements by Power Minister Pralhad Joshi. He says the country is on track to reach 500 GW of non-fossil power capacity by 2030. Joshi also reports that from January to June, 30.58 GW of non-fossil fuel-based generation capacity is added. He characterizes this increase as 25% higher than the amount added in the same period in the previous year. The figures relate to installed generation capacity based on non-fossil energy sources, including non-fossil fuel-based electricity generation rather than electricity actually produced.
