Nigerian singer Davido (David Adeleke) appeals to Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma ahead of the August 15 Osun governorship election, urging him to avoid interfering with the vote and to help ensure a peaceful, credible process. Speaking at a press conference in Osogbo, Davido addresses security concerns and reports he says he cannot independently verify. He tells Uzodimma he has heard rumours that the Imo governor could use influence to turn Osun into a political battleground or otherwise affect the election. Davido frames his request as a call for peace and respect for democratic choice, adding that whatever the result is, political ambition should not put lives at risk. He also urges eligible voters to participate without fear and emphasises that votes and the electorate’s decision should be respected. Davido states his support for incumbent Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke, whom he says he wants to see secure another term. Uzodimma, according to the reports, chairs the All Progressives Congress (APC) national campaign council for the Osun election. Davido further advises supporters to reject violence, intimidation, provocation, and damage to lives and property.
