Police in Akwa Ibom State arrest two suspects, including the manager of Mbiokporo cemetery, for allegedly exhuming a freshly buried corpse and stealing the casket. According to the Akwa Ibom State Police Command, the arrests are carried out by the police following the report of the incident. The state police spokesperson, DSP Timfon John, says the suspects are detained for their alleged roles in removing the remains from a grave shortly after burial and taking the casket.
The Punch reports that police also arrest a grave digger in connection with the same incident. Investigations into how the casket was taken and the circumstances surrounding the exhumation are ongoing. The case is still under police review as authorities work to gather evidence and determine the full extent of involvement by the suspects.
