Emami Agrotech enters India’s ready-to-eat snacks segment with the launch of its brand “WeMe,” according to reports. The company, based in Kolkata, says it plans to invest substantially in the venture and scale production within the coming years. One report states that the initiative involves an investment of ₹750 crore and sets a revenue target of ₹1,000 crore over the next five to seven years. Another report says Emami plans a Rs 400-crore plant in Bengal as part of the expansion, outlining the company’s manufacturing footprint for the new snacks business. Together, the accounts describe a phased effort to build capacity and grow sales in the ready-to-eat category, while maintaining that Emami is launching WeMe as its entry point into the market. The reports also frame the move as a medium-term growth plan tied to investment in infrastructure and expected revenue ramp-up over several years.
