Sula Vineyards reports a sharp year-on-year decline in quarterly profit, even as revenue from operations rises modestly. For the quarter ended June, the company’s net profit falls 45% to Rs 1.06 crore, compared with Rs 1.94 crore in the same quarter last financial year, according to its stock exchange filing. Revenue from operations increases about 3% year-on-year to Rs 112.88 crore from Rs 109.64 crore.
Despite the higher topline, operating profitability weakens. EBITDA declines to Rs 16.60 crore from Rs 18.30 crore a year earlier, leading to a contraction in EBITDA margin to 14.7% from 16.7% in the year-ago quarter. The reported results indicate that margin compression outweighs the revenue improvement.
Following the earnings announcement, Sula Vineyards shares trade lower. One report states the stock closes at Rs 167, down 2.2% on the day, with the stock also showing losses over several longer time frames.
