The Accord Party’s Osun State chapter says it has received intelligence about an alleged plan to steal or divert sensitive election materials ahead of the August 15 governorship election. In statements attributed to the party’s state chairman, it warns that opposition actors may seek to compromise the electoral process by concealing or disrupting materials intended for polling units across the state. The party says such interference could delay the deployment of materials and affect voter access, potentially undermining the credibility of the election.
Accord calls on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to strengthen accountability for the storage, movement and distribution of election materials. It also urges security agencies, including the Police, the Department of State Services (DSS) and the NSCDC, to investigate the information and take preventive steps.
The party further appeals to residents to stay calm and remain vigilant, reporting any suspicious activities to authorities. Accord says it will challenge any attempt to manipulate the election through lawful means, emphasizing that the outcome should reflect voters’ will.
