Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed carries out a minor cabinet reshuffle, appointing four new commissioners less than a year before the end of his term. The governor announces the changes at the Government House in Bauchi, saying the appointments address vacancies and aim at more equitable representation in the State Executive Council. The reshuffle follows the departure of some commissioners, who resign to pursue political ambitions ahead of the 2027 elections, while two other commissioners are removed from office.
The newly sworn-in commissioners are Madaki Ahmad Gololo for Small and Medium Enterprises and Cooperatives, Bashir Yau for Youth and Sports Development, Bashir Adamu Rishi for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, and Baraya Ibrahim for Commerce, Industry and Investment. Mohammed says merit, competence, and commitment to development guide the selections, and he urges the new appointees to familiarize themselves with government policies, work closely with permanent secretaries, and manage public resources with integrity, accountability, and transparency.
The governor also redeploys some officials to other ministries and retains Hassan Eliyakub and Usman Usman as supervising commissioners for Local Government and Water Resources, respectively.
