Kellogg (WK Kellogg) says it will remove artificial dyes from all of its cereals by the end of this year. The company frames the change as part of a shift toward new ingredients to provide the colors used in its products, while still meeting consumer expectations for distinct appearance.
The reports also note that Kellogg is eliminating another type of additive. In addition to the dyes, the company will remove BHT, an artificial preservative, from the small number of cereals that still contain it. After these changes, Kellogg says its cereal lineup will no longer include artificial colors across all varieties, and BHT will be removed from the remaining products where it is present.
The company’s announcement is presented as a completed timeline for both the dye and preservative adjustments, with the end-of-year deadline covering the planned reformulation work.
