Abia State Governor Alex Otti orders the Abia State Traffic and Safety Management Agency (ARTSMA) and the Abia State Harmonised Taskforce to extend their daily operations until 10:00 p.m., including weekends. The directive is accompanied by an instruction for the agencies to deploy additional personnel and resources along major routes to strengthen traffic-law enforcement. Otti warns that reckless driving will lead to strict sanctions, citing public safety and the need to prevent harm to lives and property.

At the Nnenna Oti Bus Terminal in Umuahia, the governor also unveils 20 new electric buses and says the move is intended to improve the transport system while reducing pollution and lowering travel costs. He further announces plans to create an independent monitoring team to check compliance with the extended hours and enforcement activities. Otti urges bus drivers to follow safety standards and avoid overloading, and he says the Central Bus Terminal in Umuahia is already helping restore order in the state’s transportation network.
