Otti extends Abia traffic enforcement hours to 10 p.m., unveils electric buses

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has directed the Abia State Traffic and Safety Management Agency (ARTSMA) and the Abia State Harmonised Taskforce to extend their daily operations until 10:00 p.m., including weekends.Speaking at the Nnenna Oti Bus Terminal in Umuahia while unveiling 20 new electric buses, Otti instructed the agencies to deploy more personnel along major routes to enforce traffic laws. He warned that reckless drivers would face strict sanctions, stressing that no one has the right to endanger lives and property through impatience or poor judgment.The governor also announced plans to set up an independent monitoring team to ensure compliance with the new directive. He urged bus drivers to adhere to safety standards and avoid overloading.Otti expressed satisfaction with improvements in the state’s transport system, noting that the introduction of electric buses would reduce pollution and provide a more economical means of travel. He added that the Central Bus Terminal in Umuahia was already restoring order and decency to Abia’s transportation network.
