National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Melvin Matibag says Batangas First District Rep. Leandro Leviste and his mother, Senator Loren Legarda, have left the Philippines. Matibag made the confirmation after Leviste failed to appear on an NBI subpoena issued to him on Thursday, Aug. 6. The subpoena is tied to allegations involving Leviste and former congressman Jacinto “Jing” Paras in a purported “honey trap” scheme targeting Executive Secretary Ralph Recto. In a radio interview, Matibag said Leviste did not attend because he traveled and “left,” adding that this is “positive.” Another report also states that Leviste left for France with Legarda before the NBI served him the subpoena, according to Matibag.
