Pat Utomi, a former presidential candidate, says he has been involved in political disputes with Buba Galadima for about 50 years, while adding that they remain close friends. Utomi made the remarks in Abuja during the inauguration of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) reconciliation panel, which is intended to address grievances and litigation arising from the party’s congresses, conventions, and primaries as the 2027 general elections approach.
According to the reports, the reconciliation committee is presented as both a challenging and humbling assignment aimed at unifying the party and reintegrating members who feel aggrieved. Utomi is described as the chairman of the panel, with Galadima as co-chairman. The committee comprises 23 members.
The NDC says it has faced internal disagreements over party congresses and disputes after primaries. The reconciliation effort is positioned as a way to mediate conflicts, heal divisions, and settle issues before campaign timelines, while also supporting the party’s stated goal of appealing to younger Nigerians.
