Four St George’s College alumni to be inducted into 2026 Hall of Fame

Four of the island’s top leaders and alumni of St George’s College are to be inducted into the 2026 St George’s College Hall of Fame during a ceremony to be held at the Terra Nova All-Suite Hotel on November 1. In addition, the inaugural Special Recognition segment will pay tribute to two sports groups and two outstanding sportsmen. The Hall of Fame inductees this year will be Frank ‘Frankie’ Lewis, Dr Francis Barnett (posthumous), Ian Wong and Donovan Chen See, representing the areas of management, medicine and manufacturing.

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Four alumni of St George’s College will be inducted into the school’s 2026 Hall of Fame on Sunday, November 1. This year’s honourees are Frank “Frankie” Lewis, Dr Francis Barnett (posthumously), Ian Wong and Donovan Chen See, recognised for their contributions in management, medicine and manufacturing. The ceremony will also introduce the inaugural Special Recognition in Sports segment, honouring the 1984 Triple Crown Champions, 1996 Sunlight Cup Champions, Eric Barrett and Neville Bell for their outstanding contributions to St George’s College athletics. The inductees were selected by a committee chaired by past student Wayne Wray (1978), following nominations from alumni. Selection criteria included community service, excellence in their fields, leadership, national and international recognition, innovation, and contributions to St George’s College. Lewis, a former student leader and sports captain, dedicated his life to community service, mentorship and preparing young Georgians for the workforce. During his time at the college, he captained Campion House, the Sunlight cricket team, Manning Cup football team and track team, helping to bring recognition to the institution both locally and internationally. His commitment to the Old Boys Club continued even while living overseas. Dr Barnett, a standout student and athlete from the Class of 1966, pursued medicine and became known for his dedication to serving those in need. His medical practices in Claremont and Brown’s Town were widely respected, with many patients receiving care at no cost. After migrating to the United States, Barnett continued to excel academically and athletically, while helping to secure scholarships for students at St George’s College and other high schools. Ian Wong spent 45 years building successful manufacturing and distribution brands, including Road Runner, Challenge Enterprises and Coldfield. Beyond business, he supported student mentorship and sports development at St George’s College while extending his community service to schools, poor relief initiatives, hurricane programmes, police groups and charities. His generosity was recognised with a Governor General’s Achievement Award. Businessman Donovan Chen See has served his alma mater in several leadership roles, including 14 years as vice-chairman of the St George’s College Board of Management and chairman of the Hall of Fame selection and organising committee. His community contributions extend beyond the college, including service on the Roman Catholic Archbishop Advisory Board, the St Anne’s Secondary School Board and as president of the Jamaica Cycling Federation. He continues to support the education of young Georgians and members of the wider community. “The St George’s College Hall of Fame induction ceremony is meant to honour Georgians who have made an indelible mark on their fellow students and communities during a lifetime of caring, service and achievement. It is an opportunity for the college to show appreciation to alumni who have demonstrated and lived according to the Jesuit education principle of being ‘men for others,” said Chairman Wray. He added, “Moreso, the induction into the Hall of Fame is an example to current students attending St George’s College and an opportunity for their classmates to recognise them.” The 2026 St George’s College Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held at the Terra Nova All-Suite Hotel at 5:00 pm.
