Police in Bengaluru’s Bagalagunte area find the skeletal remains of a woman, identified as Dakshayini, inside a duplex home. The remains are discovered nearly a year after police suspect she died. Authorities inspect the property and open an investigation to determine the timing and circumstances of her death, including whether foul play is involved.

Reports say Dakshayini lived alone in the Havanur Layout residence after the deaths of her husband and son. The Free Press Journal states she had been battling depression following those losses, while Times of India reports she was living independently and had schizophrenia. Both accounts say her family had limited contact for a prolonged period; the Free Press Journal adds that her daughter and son-in-law reportedly did not visit for months, contributing to the death going unnoticed. Times of India says police inform her brother, who confirms her identity, and an “unnatural death” report is filed. Authorities have not yet released the full details of how the remains were found or what prompted the property check.
