A man from Kerala is charged with attempted murder after he allegedly tried to force open an emergency exit on a Batik Air flight while in the air. The incident involves Jamsheer Athanikkal of Koottanad in Palakkad, who was travelling on flight OD231 from Kuala Lumpur to Kochi on Wednesday.
According to reports, during the flight he is alleged to have attempted to open the aircraft’s emergency exit and to have damaged a window panel. Other accounts add that he reportedly threatened fellow passengers and crew members while the aircraft was en route. After the flight lands, he is arrested by authorities.
Police investigations focus on multiple aspects, including what prompted the alleged actions and whether his mental state played a role. Authorities state they are examining motives alongside the circumstances surrounding his behavior during the flight, as the case proceeds under the newly added charge.
