Niger State’s health commissioner reports that diphtheria has caused 17 deaths in the state over the past seven months, with 124 confirmed cases recorded. The commissioner, Dr Murtala Muhammad Bagana, makes the disclosure during a press briefing in Minna.
According to the commissioner, the cases are reported across Bida, Suleja and Shiroro local government areas. Premium Times and Daily Post Nigeria both state that out of the total cases, 103 patients have been treated and discharged.
