District administrations in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi are scheduled to administer free de-worming tablets to eligible children on August 10, observed as National Deworming Day.
The Hindu reports that Dakshina Kannada identifies 5,11,049 people aged 1 to 19, while Udupi identifies 2,72,477 people in the same age range for the programme. These tablets are intended to address hookworm-related issues.
