Hyundai Motor India Ltd expects its export volumes to recover from the second quarter of the current fiscal year, its managing director and CEO Tarun Garg says. The company reported exports falling 19.6% in Q1 FY27 to 38,708 units, down from 48,140 units in the same period last year.

Garg attributes the Q1 decline to disruptions affecting key routes and production. He cites the continuing impact of the US–Iran conflict on Middle East shipments, as well as a temporary production disruption in June following a fire incident at a supplier’s facility involving Mobis. He also notes ongoing challenges with freight through the Strait of Hormuz.

At the same time, Hyundai points to what it describes as strong underlying export fundamentals, including a healthy order backlog and robust customer demand across key markets. The company also expects support from backorders and portfolio expansion, including increased export shipments of the new Venue and the start of shipments for Verna PE and Exter PE, including a left-hand-drive version of the Exter. Hyundai says it remains confident of delivering its full-year overall growth guidance of 8% to 10% and expects further improvement in export performance in subsequent quarters.
