Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps says it will not reopen the Strait of Hormuz unless the United States meets demands made by Tehran. The position is reiterated as the Guards state they will not change course without a US response that satisfies Tehran’s conditions.
Iranian foreign policy officials also deny that direct negotiations with the US are underway. In comments carried by Free Malaysia Today, Abbas Araghchi says Tehran is “exchanging messages” through intermediaries rather than negotiating. The outlets frame the US-Iran exchange as indirect communication, with Tehran presenting its requirements publicly while pushing for US actions to be formalized.
