Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) begins rolling out an ordered refund to consumers, leading to lower electricity rates in August. The decrease is modest for most households, as Meralco implements the refund through its billing rates.
According to the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), Meralco is refunding about P9.5 billion to customers. In an August billing update, Meralco says power rates drop by P0.0428 per kilowatt-hour (kWh). For a typical household, the all-in rate is set to be P14.7833 per kWh, down from P14.8261 per kWh in July.
