Iran’s foreign ministry says it sees no reason to fear a new security pact involving Pakistan, Turkey and Saudi Arabia. Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei tells reporters the agreement is not directed against Tehran.
Baghaei says the pact reflects a wider shift in how regional countries approach security, with greater reliance on their own capabilities rather than outside powers. Some outlets also describe Baghaei linking the change to a broader shift in perception regarding the United States.
In addition, one outlet includes Baghaei’s broader commentary that any plan aligned with the region’s “geopolitical and historical realities” and that identifies threats appropriately could help strengthen security and prevent instability. Across the reports, however, the core position is that Iran is not concerned about the pact and does not view it as hostile.
