Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick says Grand Theft Auto 6 will not get a disc release, arguing that physical media “doesn’t really make sense for the consumer” for large, modern games. He adds that most people are already able to access games digitally, and that the company focuses on delivering titles efficiently.

In comments reported by outlets, Zelnick also says Take-Two’s sales are overwhelmingly digital—more than 90%—and that playing most games today requires being connected. While he does not foresee a financial downside from digital-only distribution, he leaves open the possibility of a future physical disc version. He describes the current plan as what Take-Two has “announced so far,” while remaining “open minded.”
