A house in Vikhroli where a father and his 14-year-old son were allegedly murdered last week is gutted in a fire days later. The blaze breaks out around 4.30 am on August 10 at Shiv Chhaya Society in Rahul Nagar, Parksite, Vikhroli (West). A gas cylinder inside the home reportedly explodes, and firefighters bring the fire under control after a fast spread that destroys household belongings.

Police sealed the premises as part of the investigation into the August 6 incident, when a father and son were attacked with knives following a family dispute over loud music. According to police, Sunil Kalicharan Vishwakarma, 40, and his son Shlok Vishwakarma, 14, die from injuries, while Sunil’s wife Anju and another younger son are hurt and receive treatment. Authorities arrest Sunil’s younger brother Surendra (Surendra alias Sonu), his wife Preeti, and another brother, Suraj, and remand them in judicial custody.

Across reports, investigators say the fire’s cause is under examination, including whether it was accidental or deliberately set. Residents express concern that the home was sealed by police before the blaze, prompting a sabotage line of inquiry.
