Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has fined Mt. Hood Skibowl $43,000 following a chairlift-related accident in April 2026. The Oregon OSHA investigation concludes the incident resulted in the death of an employee.
According to Oregon OSHA, the ski area issued multiple citations tied to safety failures identified during and after the investigation. Both outlets report that the accident involves a maintenance basket detaching from a chairlift, and that the investigation focuses on how workers were prepared for maintenance activities.
The Oregonian adds that Oregon OSHA found the ski area did not properly train workers prior to the maintenance work leading to the detachment.
