Project FLOW is expanding access to clean drinking water for students in Guyana’s Region Three with the commissioning and handover of 15 solar-powered water purification systems at secondary schools. Multiple outlets report that school leaders and headteachers describe early benefits from the initiative, including improved health and learning conditions for students and staff, as well as greater sustainability in day-to-day school water use.
The installations are carried out under a partnership that involves the Ministry of Education, Recover Guyana, and the Greater Guyana Initiative, with ExxonMobil Guyana also identified as part of the implementation. The systems are commissioned during a public ceremony marking the completion of the latest batch of school water infrastructure.
In addition to supporting cleaner drinking water, the project is described as helping reduce reliance on bottled water, with expectations that the shift could eliminate millions of plastic bottles over time. The reported rollout specifically covers secondary schools in Region Three and is presented as a continuation of Project FLOW’s broader goal to improve water security in schools.
