A 19-year-old man accused of raping a 16-year-old girl is also accused of keeping her under “digital arrest” for nearly three months, according to police and reports. The girl is said to have been controlled through mobile access, including constant video calls and threats, after investigators say the accused met her through Instagram.
The allegation surfaced in the Nagpur case after the girl went missing and was later found in a rented flat in the Dighori area on August 3. Police report that she was held there as a hostage for about 24 hours, during which she was allegedly assaulted and injured. She was found tied up, and investigators say a knife was recovered from the flat.
Times of India reports the accused used the “digital arrest” concept to compel her to follow instructions, while also alleging threats to upload photos online. The same reporting describes serious violence, including whipping and multiple knife wounds, and says officers traced items used in the assault to local pet shops. Police also describe the rescue following a missing-person complaint and the use of digital evidence to locate the accused’s area in Nagpur. The accused, Nirmay Madhav Pakhare, is in custody as the investigation continues.
