Australian sleepwear brand Peter Alexander is shutting all three of its brick-and-mortar stores in the United Kingdom after less than two years. The closures are announced by the brand’s owner, Premier Investments, as it retreats from physical retail in the UK.
The stores set to close include locations at Bluewater, Westfield Stratford, and Westfield London in White City. Premier Investments says the decision is driven by “difficult” trading conditions, reflecting broader pressure on retailers operating in the UK market. The outlets cited also note that Peter Alexander’s brand name is linked to Solomon Lew.
While the stores are closing, the brand continues trading online for UK customers, selling through its website rather than through physical outlets. The move is presented by both sources as part of a wider pattern of Australian retailers reducing their presence in the UK due to challenging local sales conditions.
