The Centre blocks 3,718 fraudulent mobile applications as part of measures to curb cyber fraud, with reported prevention of losses totaling Rs 11,158 crore up to June 2026. The reporting indicates that, alongside app takedowns, related identifiers and accounts are also targeted to reduce misuse.

According to the accounts, more than 15.75 lakh SIM cards and 5.77 lakh IMEIs are blocked. In addition, suspect accounts are flagged as part of enforcement and monitoring efforts. While both reports describe the same overall actions and totals, they focus slightly differently—one emphasizes the number of apps and the savings figure, while the other also lists the volume of blocked SIMs and IMEIs and the step of identifying suspicious accounts.
