A SpiceJet flight operating from Delhi to Pune turns back to the bay after the aircraft’s air conditioning fails, leaving the cabin extremely hot and humid. Reports say more than 100 passengers refuse to continue once the issue is identified, and some passengers on board feel faint or require medical assistance due to the heat.
According to Mint, the flight, identified as SG 105, is delayed by about two hours before the dispute escalates, with passengers protesting and seeking help. The Times of India also describes the cabin becoming uncomfortably hot, prompting passengers to choose not to fly. Both outlets report that the aircraft eventually returns to the bay and that an alternate aircraft is arranged to take passengers on later, after the airline makes replacement arrangements. SpiceJet later apologises for the inconvenience, and the alternate departure occurs hours after the original schedule.
