Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) troops in Plateau State rescue a female kidnapping victim after her abductors allegedly abandon her. The victim, identified as Mrs Paulina Alfred, is reported to be 47 years old and is taken to security personnel after being found, then reunited with her family.
Accounts from outlets say the kidnapping happened at the victim’s residence in Dong Village in Jos North Local Government Area. After distress calls from community members, troops of OPEP’s Sector 3 launch a search and track the kidnappers to areas around Rafin Bauna in Bassa Local Government Area. One counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, says intensified pressure from the troops causes the abductors to flee and leave the victim behind. The reports also state she is rescued without further harm and is debriefed before release back to family. The coverage mainly differs in emphasis, with some focusing on the rescue narrative and others detailing the search timeline and locations mentioned by military sources.
