Police say the video conference footage shows how the scammer stages a meeting using deepfake technology to appear credible and secure further instructions or transfers.
The police account focuses on how victims are contacted, how the impersonation is conducted, and the scale of at least one loss. Both outlets report that the police have video footage of the fake Zoom meeting and that the case involves the impersonation of PM Wong. Police have previously warned the public about scams that use official-sounding identities and digital impersonation to persuade victims to part with money.
