The Border Management Authority (BMA) says it intercepts more than 4,200 people attempting to enter South Africa illegally without the required documents. BMA Commissioner Michael Masiapato states that 4,229 people are intercepted between April and July.
The authority links the interceptions to intensified operations along vulnerable border areas. The report describes the people as lacking documentation and attempting to cross into South Africa unlawfully, with enforcement efforts focused on border regions considered at higher risk.
