Google introduces a new “tap to share” capability for Android’s Quick Share, letting compatible devices exchange content and contact information by tapping together. The feature is announced as part of the Pixel 11 launch and begins rolling out today to Pixel 6-series phones and newer.
Google says the tap-to-share behavior works like AirDrop-style sharing. Droid Life and The Verge both report that the update includes both file and contact sharing. The rollout is not limited to Pixels: Google also plans to bring tap-to-share to upcoming Samsung Galaxy devices “soon,” specifically the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Z Fold 8, and Flip 8.
