More than 500 fake websites impersonating Singapore’s Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and Home Team agencies are taken down, the authorities announce. The Home Team Science and Technology Agency (HTX) identifies the sites on Aug 10 and action follows.

The Ministry of Home Affairs and Home Team agencies say investigations so far find no evidence that the fake websites are used to perpetrate scams or to phish for information from members of the public. Both outlets report that, while the sites were designed to resemble official pages, authorities have not uncovered indicators of illegal access or fraud at the time of their updates.

The two reports focus on the same outcome—removal of the impersonating sites—and the same early findings—no confirmed wrongdoing such as scams or phishing. The Straits Times and CNA differ mainly in phrasing and in highlighting the date of HTX’s identification versus the ministry’s Wednesday update, but they present consistent facts about the scale and status of the takedown.
