Police in Kwara State arrest Muhamodu Sanni, a suspected member of a kidnapping syndicate, while he attempts to withdraw alleged ransom money at a POS terminal in Ilorin.
According to reports from multiple outlets, the arrest is made in Ilorin East Local Government Area. The police say it follows intelligence-led operations after the abduction of three people during an armed invasion of Obudu Village on July 28, 2026. Investigators trace the syndicate’s financial and communication channels, which leads to Sanni’s interception.
The outlets also note that the arrest is linked to ransom collection connected to the suspected kidnapping network around the Obudu/Woru axis. Nigerian Eye reports that Sanni confesses to involvement in ransom collection and names two additional suspects, Aminu and Umar, for further investigation. Punch and Daily Post describe the arrest and police account but focus more generally on the attempted cash-out, citing the same Kwara Police spokesperson, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi.
