Apple is reportedly developing a trade-in workflow that can store a customer’s trade-in quote in the Apple Wallet app for up to 90 days. The change is based on code references found in Apple’s Guide app, which Apple staff and authorized resellers use during customer conversations and product demonstrations.
The code indicates an offer can be added to Apple Wallet and that employees may generate the offer using a QR code customers scan with an iPhone. The underlying workflow appears to cover steps such as checking device eligibility, collecting device details (including serial number or IMEI), running diagnostics, and then retrieving a quote from trade-in vendors before creating a Wallet pass.
Different outlets describe the same overall concept: extending trade-in quote validity. Apple’s currently advertised online window is 14 days after an estimate, and the reported 90-day period would give customers a longer time to decide or return. Both outlets also note that server-side controls may limit whether the feature is actually available and that Apple has not announced any Wallet-based trade-in option, so details and terms could change before a wider rollout.
