Sam Barlow, creator of Her Story and Immortality, announces Precognition, a new sci-fi horror game developed by his studio Half Mermaid. The game features writing from filmmaker Brandon Cronenberg, who has also worked on films including Possessor and Infinity Pool. Across coverage, Precognition is described as a non-linear, video-driven experience built around future visions and decisions that can change outcomes.
Multiple outlets say the story centers on Diana, a woman who receives an experimental brain implant that lets her view the future. Players explore those visions and commit specific moments to Diana’s memory in the present, with the possibility of altering the future. PC Gamer and Rock Paper Shotgun emphasize the premise of “really terrible things” approaching and how the visions are not necessarily beneficial. Eurogamer and Nintendo Life add additional publishing and platform context.
Eurogamer reports Precognition is planned for spring 2028 and will debut under Kinetic’s publishing label. Nintendo Life states it is confirmed for Switch 2, and frames it as following Immortality’s approach with a non-linear FMV structure.
