Apple is reported to be in talks with news publishers about paid partnerships to provide current journalistic content for Siri AI.
Multiple outlets cite a report from The Wall Street Journal saying the deals would help Siri AI deliver more reliable news and information. Rather than relying solely on web access or generating summaries that can be prone to errors, Apple is exploring a model in which publishers supply content for Siri AI’s use. Apple reportedly is considering multiyear agreements with payments that are tied to usage, and discussions include a budget that could reach into the “nine figures.”
The outlets differ mainly in emphasis and context. AppleInsider and 9to5Mac focus on the motivation—reducing issues associated with AI hallucinations and inaccurate content when summarizing sources. MacRumors adds that Apple has previously worked with publishers, including for Apple News+ (since 2019), and notes some publishers ended their partnerships. MacRumors also highlights prior work involving AI training rights in earlier agreements, contrasting with the proposed approach for Siri AI. Siri AI is expected to arrive with iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27.
