Police in Noida say they have arrested five people for allegedly posing as Goods and Services Tax (GST) officials and extorting Rs 29 lakh from a man who works as a GST consultant. Police allege the group targeted the complainant under the pretext of GST-related work and demanded money.
According to police accounts reported by NDTV, officers intercepted the suspects near the ISKCON temple on Jalpur Road after using electronic surveillance, CCTV tracking, and information from local informants. The reports describe the operation as being built around tracking the suspects’ movements and identifying the alleged extortion scheme before the arrest.
