General Insurance Corporation of India’s reinsurance arm, GIC Re, reports mixed performance in Q1 FY27. One outlet says net profit slips 31% year-on-year to Rs 1,744 crore, while another reports net profit rises 9.7% year-on-year to about Rs 1,922 crore. Both accounts cover the same quarter and point to stronger premium collection.

Across reporting, gross premium income increases in Q1 FY27. The Free Press Journal reports gross premium up 8.8% year-on-year to Rs 13,475.36 crore, with an improvement in incurred claims and the incurred-claims ratio. It also notes that profit falls sequentially from Q4 FY26 even as premiums rise sequentially. NDTV highlights solvency, saying the solvency ratio strengthens to 4.32x (from 3.85x the previous year).

Outlets differ on the direction and magnitude of year-on-year net profit, but they agree on improved solvency and higher premium levels during the quarter. The Free Press Journal adds detail on underwriting results, investment income, and changes in net worth and assets, based on unaudited filings.
