Afrobeat musician Femi Kuti says Nigeria’s main challenge is not President Bola Tinubu but institutional corruption that undermines the country’s progress. Speaking on the Good News Naija podcast, he argues that corruption affects decision-making across government and other sectors.
Kuti points to Nigeria’s judicial system as a key factor. He says the courts’ failure to stop Tinubu from running for and reaching the presidency—despite allegations—illustrates broader weaknesses in accountability and governance. In his view, the presence of a corrupt elite and the lack of integrity in leadership enable individuals accused of wrongdoing to participate in politics.
