Former Chief of Defence Staff General Lucky Irabor (retd) calls for the immediate arrest of individuals he says have made inciting remarks that could fuel violence. Speaking on Channels Television on Thursday, he criticizes a viral video featuring Senator Francis Fadahunsi of Osun East, in which Irabor alleges the senator urges supporters to kill members of the Accord Party ahead of the state governorship election.
Irabor says such statements amount to incitement and should be met with action, commending police for inviting Fadahunsi for questioning. He further urges law enforcement to arrest Islamic clerics Sheikh Sani Jingir and Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, citing their past controversial comments and arguing that their rhetoric could pose threats to national security and undermine the rule of law. Both outlets frame Irabor’s position as a request that no one be above the law and that accountability is needed to deter further harmful rhetoric.
