Sauerbruch Hutton and Studio Gang are selected to renovate German House in New York following an international competition organized by the Federal Republic of Germany. The building stands on United Nations Plaza in Manhattan and currently accommodates the Consulate General of Germany, the Permanent Mission of Germany to the United Nations, and affiliated cultural institutions.
The outlets describe the project as an effort to adapt the existing structure and extend its lifespan while improving operational and environmental performance. The planned work includes recladding and interior redesign of the 325-foot-tall (99-metre) skyscraper just north of the United Nations complex.
