The Nigerian Debt Management Office (DMO), on behalf of the Federal Government, re-opens three FGN bonds worth a total of N1.1 trillion for subscription in August. The bonds are offered at N1,000 per unit, with interest and repayment terms set for each security.
According to the DMO, the re-opening includes: a January 2035 bond valued at N250 billion (10-year re-opening) with a 22.60% coupon, an April 2037 bond valued at N100 billion (20-year re-opening) at 16.2499%, and a June 2038 bond valued at N750 billion (15-year re-opening) at 15.45%. The auction date is August 17, with settlement on August 19. The DMO states there is a minimum subscription of N50 million, in multiples of N1,000 thereafter.
Both outlets describe the same offer details and structure, including that these are re-openings of previously issued bonds, where successful bidders pay a price based on the yield-to-maturity bid that clears the auction volume, plus accrued interest. The DMO also notes the bonds’ semi-annual interest payments and bullet repayment at maturity, and that they are backed by the Federal Government.
