iFixit’s teardown of Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 provisionally awards the foldable a 4 out of 10 repairability score. The assessment highlights vulnerabilities around the device’s hinge design and internal structure, which iFixit says make repairs difficult and increase the risk of damage during disassembly.
iFixit also points to the phone’s IP48 ingress rating as part of its durability concerns. That rating indicates it is not protected against particles smaller than 1 millimeter, leaving the device susceptible to fine dust and sand. Android Authority similarly emphasizes that the foldable’s repairability challenges stem from a fragile inner screen and a unified hinge assembly, which together complicate access to components and maintenance.
