Hong Kong’s public rental housing waiting time for general applicants edges up to 4.8 years at the end of June, according to the Housing Bureau. The bureau says the figure is the latest “composite” waiting time for those applying for both long- and short-term subsidised public rental housing.
The composite measure includes temporary flats provided under the Light Public Housing initiative. While the overall composite figure increases slightly, the Housing Bureau also reports that a larger share of allocations is directed to urban areas in the second quarter. That change is presented in the context of how homes are distributed across different locations and waiting lists.
