Residents of Schoonord report that drainage conditions have returned to normal after emergency work by the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority (NDIA). The issue began when a fishing boat reportedly displaced a door at the community’s koker, prompting urgent action to restore drainage.
In an interview with the Department of Public Information (DPI), Agriculture Minister Zulfikar Mustapha says NDIA secured the situation and that a new koker is set to be tendered within a month. Both outlets describe the same cause of the disruption—damage linked to a fishing boat—and the same immediate response by NDIA.
