Police say the suspects create traps by placing material inside ATM cash-dispensing slots so customers cannot fully or partially retrieve their money, while the funds remain accessible to the perpetrators.
According to police, incidents occur over a span from June 17 to July 27. Financial institutions report 14 separate cash-trap incidents during the investigation period. Police say the method involves installing double-sided adhesive inside the cash-dispensing slot to interfere with cash retrieval.
