An Garda Síochána reports that the number of hate crimes and hate-related incidents in Ireland increases in 2025. The total reaches 780, up from 676 recorded in 2024, with outlets citing a rise of about 15% to 16%.
Gardaí say the figures indicate more people are coming forward, but they also stress that hate incidents can still be under-reported. RTE and the Irish Mirror note that the increase may partly reflect improved reporting, while acknowledging that the scale of hate-related offending may be higher than official statistics suggest. The Irish Independent similarly highlights the year-on-year rise and calls for victims to report incidents to support recording and response.
