A faction of Nigeria’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) accuses Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike and Prof. Sandy Onor of allegedly disrupting peace in Cross River State. The faction says their actions are aimed at undermining tranquillity and creating instability in the state’s political environment.
The allegation is raised by a PDP group led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, which names Julius Udayi as its governorship candidate. Speaking during a press conference in Calabar at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre, the faction claims Wike is sponsoring “parallel” political activities in Cross River through Onor and Sir Arthur Jarvis Archibong, resulting in confusion within the PDP. The faction calls on Governor Bassey Otu and the Department of State Services (DSS) to investigate what it describes as “reoccurring parallel political activities.”
In response, Archibong dismisses the claims, saying the group is “campaigning for us.” The PDP faction also insists its leadership is legitimate, citing a Court of Appeal ruling in its favour.
